Calvin Howerton 85
August 16, 1924 - February 18, 2010

Calvin Howerton, 85, of Waco was called home to be with our Heavenly Father on Thursday, February 18, 2010 at Providence Hospital after a courageous battle with a stroke and pneumonia.

Mr. Howerton was born August 16, 1924 in Waco Texas. He married Hazel Watson March 12, 1943 and remained with her until her passing June 15, 2009.

Mr. Howerton was a WWII veteran who survived Omaha Beach and served with General Patton on the RedBall Express driving a fuel truck that kept the tanks moving. Cal enjoyed serving with Patton and often related stories about him during his tour of duty. He was active in amateur radio and was licensed for many years where he met other operators from all over the world. He was a lifetime member of the Texas State Guard Amateur Radio Club in Waco. Cal retired from LL Sams after 35 years designing and installing church furniture all over the U.S. He was also a licensed pilot and spent a lot of his spare time flying.

Left behind to cherish his memory is his nephew, Jerry Watson of Waco, special friends Leon and Carolyn Cheney and many many loving friends.

Interment with military honors was at Waco Memorial Park
